MARSHFIELD DEVELOPMENT REVIEW BOARD
Approved Minutes of April 26, 2006
Board Members present: James Arisman, Tom Daley, Jon
Groveman, and Martin Johnson. Also attending: Zoning
Administrator Bob Light, Barbara Bendix.
At 7:00 the Board assembled for a public hearing on the
Site Plan application of Twinfield Union School, but
there was no one present to represent the applicants.
The school is seeking approval to build a small
structure on the school grounds to house a traditional
Quebec style bread oven. Tom got on the phone to try to
contact someone to represent the school, hoping the
hearing wouldn’t have to be rescheduled. He finally
reached Barbara Bendix, who is one of the people
organizing construction of the oven. She agreed to come
down to the hearing.
In the interim, Bob acquainted the Board with an
enforcement action initiated by the State against the
Berte property, for unpermitted development in the Flood
Hazard area. Bob stated that the State has become much
more attentive to infringements on the floodway since
hurricane Katrina. Jon then reported that the
Selectboard has advertised to see what candidates might
be available to fill his (Jon’s) place on the DRB.
The Board then looked over the
Site Plan and
Conditional Use
application from
Cloud Alliance,
which seeks to add a transmission antenna to an
agricultural silo on the property of
Steve Newton
on Hollister Hill Rd. The Board found the application to
be complete, and scheduled a public hearing on the
matter for
Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 7:00 pm.
At 7:45 pm Barbara arrived, and the Board opened Public
hearing on Twinfield’s Site Plan application. As
described, the bread oven will be housed in a 12 by 16
timber frame accessory building, just beyond the west
parking lot at the school. It will be installed on a
concrete slab. Bob reported that he had been out to look
at the site. No particular concerns were raised about
this project; the Board will issue a permit shortly, and
will mail it care of Barbara.
At 7:55 pm Martin moved to adjourn the DRB meeting.
Seconded by Jon, all in favor.
Respectfully submitted,
Tom Daley
